To rehabilitate is to restore something to its capacity. To rehabilitate this building is to give it functionality and meaning. The program designated at Castellnou is the one that best suits its imposing and welcoming character. The purpose of this project is to make the building and the program feed each other. To recover the architectural heritage it is necessary to give it functionality, content and life. Recovering Castellnou means bringing it closer to the public, opening it up to everyone with representativeness and council function but also with spaces for social and cultural activities; meeting and living spaces.

This project comes after a long history of previous interventions. All the interventions had their own reason and all are part, in one way or another, of the building’s heritage. The intervention that we are now carrying out, in addition to providing the building with the conditions for a new life, enhances the value of this heritage site that has finally passed into public hands. Now Castellnou belongs to everyone and this is also part of the intervention. The heritage value ranges from the Hall with its paintings and carpeting to the hydraulic mosaics that can be recovered from the old houses in the last stage of the building. Each thing articulates with the others and explains the identity of our monument.
