The memorial dedicated to Ignasi de Solà-Morales (Barcelona, 1942-Amsterdam, 2001), promoted by the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB) in collaboration with the Barcelona Center for Contemporary Culture (CCCB), Institut d’Humanitats and the College of Architects of Catalonia have based themselves on this publication and on a series of lectures held at the CCCB between 10 and 14 March 2003. This book is a collective work in which more than forty architecture critics and professors write about the topics that Ignasi de Solà-Morales dealt with. Both the book and the lectures arise from the desire to continue investigating the issues that were central to the intellectual work of Ignasi de Solà-Morales. To this end, a dialogue structure has been adopted between the most prestigious architectural critics, contemporaries of the professor, and his disciples or collaborators of the ETSAB, the Master Metropolis and other institutions in which Ignasi de Solà -Morales left his mark on his knowledge, his intellectual rigor, his work methodology and his ability to train disciples. The will of the authors who have contributed to the tribute has been to reflect on the different periods and the different fields of study of Ignasi de Solà-Morales, trying to recreate his rigor and capacity for criticism, following, in a way , one of its objectives: to synthesize the operability of structuralist and deconstructivist thought with the capacity to perceive and feel of phenomenology. In short, the reason for the tribute to Ignasi de Solà-Morales has become a privileged meeting opportunity to review the different aspects of contemporary architectural theory.
